I am Ishan Sharma, a Full Stack Engineer. I saw your job post for
Desktop Developer
on LinkedIn and decided to apply.
Right now, I am a graduate CS student at The University of Texas at Dallas. I graduate in May 2019 and
I’d love to work at Signal after that.
Why should Signal consider you?
Signal cares about privacy. And I’m a Software Engineer with a passion for privacy.
I don’t just talk about it. I avoid Google products (except Gmail for an old address) and I no longer
have a FaceBook account. One of my top priorities in a workplace is respect for user privacy and Signal is
one of the few companies that align so closely with my values.
Let's talk requirements!
Comprehensive experience developing cross-platform JavaScript applications using
Electron, Node, and React.
I have experience with JavaScript apps, Node and AngularJS. I haven’t used Electron that
much. But hey, this app is made using electron! 😬
Familiar with statically typed languages like TypeScript.
Of course! I am familiar several with statically typed languages including Java
(5000+ LOC) and Swift. Here's a sample Java project:
Implementation of Skip Lists (not
bragging, but I (and team members) wrote unit tests for this! 😬)
Did I mention I have worked with JS extensively and should be able to pick up TS relatively fast.
Capable of communicating effectively. We're a small organization;
you will be involved in every aspect.
My first job was at startup with a team of 13 people. More recently, I completed an
internship with a 6 people startup.
I know communication and documentation are super important. Additionally, I like to write! You can check out

I have Bachelors Degree in IT and Masters in Computer Science.
5+ years of industry experience.
